Our fees

Where the money goes.

A stay on YouAndHost carries two fees and nothing else: 9% from the guest, shown as its own line before you pay, and 3% from the host, taken out of the payout. The card processing is inside those numbers, not on top. That is the whole of it, and it is less than any marketplace of comparable reach charges.

The “no guest fee” that guests pay anyway.

Several marketplaces now advertise no service fee for guests. The fee did not go away; it moved. The host pays it, so the host raises the nightly price to cover it, and the guest pays it inside the price with no line that says so. It looks transparent and it is the opposite. We would rather show you the fee than hide it in the rate.

Here is the same stay on three platforms, with the host taking home $1,000 in each case. Airbnb and Vrbo figures are the published ones, checked on 2026-09-23.

PlatformFrom the hostFrom the guestThe host lists it atThe guest pays
YouAndHost3%9%$1,031$1,124
Airbnb15.5%0%$1,183$1,183 · $60 more
Vrbo8%10%$1,087$1,196 · $72 more

The host takes home the same $1,000 on each row. The difference is what the platform keeps, and on YouAndHost it is the smallest, so the guest’s total is the lowest. A host who prices for the same total as elsewhere keeps more; a host who passes the saving on charges less. Either way, the fee is on the receipt, never in the rate.

Why so little?

Because the booking fee is not the business. Everything a host needs to take a booking and be paid is free; the paid plans are optional tools, per listing, for hosts who want automation. A platform that lives on a commission has every reason to grow it; we set ours at the least that keeps the lights on, and we publish it. When the fee changes, this page changes first.

We also hold the money the way a marketplace should: the guest pays at booking, the host is paid the day after check-in, refunds follow the policy on the listing, and the card and identity details never touch our servers; they are entered on Stripe’s pages and stay there.

Founding hosts: 7% until January 1, 2028.

Hosts who publish a listing before January 1, 2028 are founding hosts. On every listing of theirs the guest fee is 7% instead of 9%, on every booking, however the guest found them, until that date. Then the standard 9%. For a guest it is the lowest fee on any marketplace; for a host it is the easiest way to be the cheapest place to book their home.

Every platform, side by side.

As each platform publishes it, checked 2026-10-14. Fees change; if one of these is out of date, contact us and we will fix it.
