Bookings

Bookings and payments

Instant or request-to-book, the money held and paid out, cancellations, changes, invoices.

A booking on YouAndHost is a contract between the guest and you, with the money held by us in the middle so both sides are safe: the guest pays at booking, you are paid the day after check-in, and refunds follow the policy the guest agreed to.

Instant book or request-to-book

Instant book confirms the stay the moment the card is charged. Request-to-book holds the dates and the card for up to 24 hours while you approve or decline, on the website or with one tap in the app; nothing is charged until you say yes.

What the guest pays

The nights at your rates, your fees, the taxes, and our service fee on its own line. A guest can pay in one go, or when the stay is two or three months out they may choose two or three parts: the first at booking, the last a month before check-in, the rest in between, all on the same card by themselves. One payment is the default. Later payments that fail are retried and both sides are told; an unpaid balance holds your payout, never the booking.

When you are paid

The day after check-in, to the bank account you connected with Stripe, less our 3%. The Earnings page shows every payout, what is coming, and a CSV for your accountant. Card processing is inside our fee, not on top of it.

Cancellations and refunds

Four policies, Relaxed to Committed, and a non-refundable rate, chosen per listing. A guest who cancels gets back what the policy says, out of the money we hold; a host who cancels refunds in full and the cancellation counts against the listing in search. Refunds go back to the guest’s card.

Changes after booking

A guest can ask to change dates or add nights; you approve or decline, and the difference is charged or refunded. Either side can send or request money for an extra, a damage or a late checkout, with the card already on file.

Invoices

Any guest can download or email an itemised invoice for a stay, made out to whoever they say, with every line that makes the total and every payment and refund. You see what they see.

We are the merchant of record. The guest’s card is entered on Stripe’s own page and never reaches our servers; identity documents stay with Stripe Identity. Disputes are handled with the record of the stay, the messages and the walkthroughs.

Damage

There is no security deposit. If a guest damages the place, open a claim from the reservation between check-in and fourteen days after checkout: the amount, what happened, and photos. The guest gets a pay page and a way to decline. Both of you see the same record, with the checkout walkthrough and the cleaning photos beside it; YouAndHost takes no side. Thirty days after checkout the claim closes and the photos are removed, unless either of you keeps it open.
